Introduction:

The purpose of this module is to explore “identity” with reference to different markers that are claimed by the Narrator and the different characters she represents in The Queen’s Garden, a play by Brenda Wong Aoki. Students will then use the Preface in The Queen’s Garden as a model for writing their own Introduction to themselves and their interaction with other people when they were younger. The results of their “rewriting” of a Preface and a Monologue will be submitted to the instructor for evaluation. Students will also complete the Queen’s Garden Worksheet.
